Our Core Services
Montessori Teaching
Authentic Montessori early childhood education guided by a certified teacher. Children explore hands-on materials at their own pace, building independence, concentration, and a love of learning through purposeful work.
Teaching in Spanish
Spanish language naturally woven into daily routines, songs, and vocabulary lessons. Children absorb a second language during the years when their minds are most open to linguistic development and cultural awareness.
Prepared Meals
Wholesome, balanced meals prepared onsite daily. Children practice independence through setting tables, pouring drinks, and sharing meals together in a calm, community-oriented routine that supports healthy habits.
Part-Time / Full-Time Daycare
Flexible scheduling options for families seeking consistent home daycare Colorado Springs care. Both part-time and full-time learners experience the same peaceful Montessori environment, certified guide, and loving routines every visit.
Programs That Grow with Your Child
Toddler Program (Ages 1–3)
The toddler years are a time of incredible growth, exploration, and emotional development. In our Toddler Program, children are welcomed into a peaceful space where their natural desire for independence is honored each day. Shelves are low, materials are simple and purposeful, and routines help toddlers feel secure and capable. Children learn through movement, hands-on activities, early language experiences, and meaningful interactions with a caring guide who knows how to support the whole child.
This environment allows toddlers to practice everyday skills like pouring, cleaning, dressing, and communicating their needs. As they explore practical life activities, sensorial materials, and early language experiences, they begin building foundational confidence and concentration. Our Montessori-certified teacher gently guides them through these moments with patience and warmth, helping each child feel safe while also encouraging them to try new things at their own pace.
Parents searching for child care Colorado Springs or in home daycare Colorado Springs often choose our Toddler Program because it feels more like a nurturing home away from home than a large center. Small ratios ensure individualized attention, and our calm environment supports toddlers in developing emotional regulation, early independence, and a joyful approach to learning.
Primary/Preschool Program (Ages 3–5)
The Primary Program is the heart of Black Forest Montessori, a classroom where independence, curiosity, and academic readiness grow naturally through the Montessori method. Children between ages 3–5 thrive in a multi-age environment because they learn from one another, take pride in contributing to their community, and progress at their own pace rather than following a rigid schedule.
Our Primary environment includes hands-on materials that support early reading, writing, mathematics, sensorial refinement, and practical life skills. Because Montessori education is deeply individualized, children choose their work based on interest and readiness, allowing them to build meaningful concentration and confidence. Older children develop leadership skills as they mentor younger classmates, while younger children observe and absorb advanced lessons through natural exposure.
Families who seek Montessori preschool Colorado Springs often tell us they want something more intentional, more peaceful, and more aligned with their child's unique personality. At Black Forest Montessori, your child is never rushed or compared. They're guided with patience, respect, and a belief in their potential. By the time they complete the program, children show a strong sense of independence, responsibility, and love of learning that lays a powerful foundation for elementary education and beyond.
Extended Summer Care
Our Extended Summer Care program offers a gentle continuation of the Montessori routine during the warmer months, providing structure, exploration, and community while still allowing children the freedom to enjoy a relaxed summer rhythm. Rather than traditional camp-style programming, our summer environment follows the same peaceful Montessori principles children experience during the school year: hands-on work, outdoor exploration, practical life activities, and opportunities for unstructured play.
Children spend time outdoors discovering nature, gardening, practicing practical life lessons outside, and moving their bodies in meaningful ways. Indoors, they engage with age-appropriate Montessori materials, creative projects, and calming routines that help maintain consistency and emotional balance. For families seeking Colorado Springs daycare options during the summer, this provides a nurturing, predictable alternative to overstimulating camp environments.
Extended Summer Care is especially beneficial for children who thrive on structure and routine, or for families who want to maintain the continuity of a Montessori approach year-round. It blends the joy of summer with the comfort and stability children rely on, creating a balanced experience that supports growth, independence, and connection.
What Makes Black Forest Montessori Different
Families trust Black Forest Montessori because of our warm environment, small class sizes, certified Montessori guide, and commitment to honoring each child's individuality. Parents searching for Montessori daycare, daycare Colorado Springs, or Montessori preschools Colorado Springs often share that our school feels more personal, more grounded, and more aligned with their child's developmental needs than larger centers or hybrid programs.
For 5 years, we've built strong relationships with families through honest communication, consistency, and genuine care. Children feel calm and supported here, never rushed, overstimulated, or overlooked. Parents appreciate the Spanish integration, prepared meals, and structured Montessori routine, which create stability and joy in a child's daily life.
What sets us apart isn't just our curriculum... it's the feeling you get when you walk through the door. The peaceful atmosphere. The way our teacher knows each child's name, personality, and current interests. The beautiful materials carefully arranged on low shelves. The sound of concentrated work instead of chaotic noise. The genuine warmth in every interaction.
Our in-home environment offers something larger centers simply cannot: a sense of belonging, consistency, and emotional safety that allows children to take risks, try new things, and grow at their own pace. Because we maintain very small ratios, your child receives the individualized attention they need to flourish. Because we're Montessori-certified, every activity supports authentic developmental growth rather than simply keeping children occupied.
Our mission is simple: to nurture independence, confidence, curiosity, and the whole child, in a space that feels like a second home.
The Montessori Approach: Education That Honors the Whole Child
At the heart of Black Forest Montessori is a deep respect for the Montessori method, a child-centered approach that nurtures independence, concentration, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. Every material in our classroom is carefully chosen to support hands-on exploration, problem-solving, and thoughtful discovery. As children work with these materials, they build foundational academic skills alongside emotional and social strengths.
The curriculum spans practical life, sensorial development, mathematics, language, science, cultural studies, and grace and courtesy. Instead of traditional worksheets or rote memorization, children learn through movement, repetition, and meaningful practice. This empowers them to understand concepts deeply rather than simply memorize answers. Because they can choose their work based on readiness, children naturally develop intrinsic motivation, one of the most powerful predictors of long-term academic success.
Montessori teachings extend beyond academics. Children learn to take care of their environment, resolve conflicts respectfully, collaborate with peers, and build inner discipline through freedom within limits. This whole-child approach ensures your child grows into a confident, compassionate, capable learner who feels ready to take on the world.
In our Montessori school Colorado Springs environment, you'll notice children working with purpose and concentration. A three-year-old carefully pouring water from pitcher to glass. A four-year-old tracing sandpaper letters with gentle fingertips. A five-year-old helping a younger friend button their coat. These aren't staged moments... this is the natural result of an environment designed to support independence, respect, and meaningful contribution.

We have been part of Black Forest Montessori for the past two years, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the very first day, the BFM family welcomed us with warmth and genuine care, making both my child and our whole family feel right at home. The small class size has enabled a truly personalized learning experience, and the teachers' patience and gentle guidance have been remarkable. What I appreciate most is the school’s commitment to hands-on, respectful teaching. My son has blossomed in this nurturing environment. Each day filled with meaningful activities, not screens. It’s clear that the focus is on real learning and growth, both academically and socially. We will dearly miss BFM, but we feel confident and excited for the next step, knowing our child is more than ready for KG thanks to the wonderful foundation he received here.

We cannot say enough good things about Black Forest Montessori! Our daughter started there a while ago, and we’ve seen such incredible growth in her. Her social skills have blossomed, and she’s become so confident. From counting to identifying colors, her development has been amazing. At first, she was nervous and cried when we dropped her off, but now she eagerly runs in with a smile. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye as we move on, but we will always be grateful for the care and foundation she got here.

Black Forest Montessori is the best! We transitioned my child from a nanny share to BFM when she turned 2 and it’s been wonderful. My child loved it - made so many great friends, learned so much, and had fun. Acsa and Chiqui are so thoughtful and truly care so much about the kids. You will be in great hands!

We absolutely love BFM! We’ve been part of this community for over a year, and it’s been incredible to see how much our daughter has learned and grown in that time. She truly adores her teachers and it’s clear how much they care about the children and how thoughtfully they support each child’s development. We also really appreciate how much they prioritize outdoor time, movement, and hands-on learning. The environment feels nurturing, intentional, and joyful, and we feel so grateful to be here. We couldn’t recommend it more highly!
